Sunvisor Renewel

 As you may recall, part of out July adventure  had an event of unexpected disassembly whilst motoring along at 60mph.  Our Sunvisor flew off!

Short version is, it landed on the edge of the road and slid off into the grass.   It didn't look too bad at the time and we motored on.  

Life getting in the way and all that and 2.5 month later I got around to fixing it.

My best guess is the Rig was painted around 2000 when the PO bought it.  He told me the color was 2000 New Beetle Yellow.  As I had had such a colored creature pull up to me at a gas pump before I believed him as the two vehicles matched perfectly.   I went to a local paint supply but they no longer mixed custom rattle cans.   The guy was super cool and said while he'd take my money, from what I told him, he said the rattle cans were a better option.   So off I went to Glue Products in WPB.

They easily matched it up, but I was surprised by the price....$40 a can!  I figured around 25 per.  Man paint has gone up alot.  Beggers can't be choosers so...

The leading edge of the visor.  obviously the first part to hit the ground.   Once it flew off I didn't see how it took flight.  I was honestly worried about oncoming traffic or the Mini that was following me.  From the best guess it naturally by it's weight would land on this edge.  There were 5 or 6 impact chips like this.   I didn't notice the fracture lines until I started to sand it down.

The underside had be flat black, but alot of it was thin or I sanded it off, so I hit it again, taping off the areas where the adhesive goes.

The almost finished product.  I need a 2nd coat then a buff out before it goes back on.   Not including the time to go get the paint, I probably put about 8 hours labor into this which is about 5 more than I thought it would, but if you want quality results, prep prep prep.
